Custom Brake Caliper Painting for Tesla Model X
We recently gave a set of brake calipers from a Tesla Model X a stunning makeover.
First, we stripped them down to bare metal with a thorough sandblasting process, removing all traces of exisint coatings, dirt and corrosion. Next, we used our four-stage paint process which features an anti-corrosion layer for lasting protection and a high-quality clear coat for a durable, long-lasting shine.
We replaced the Tesla logo with an identical set made in-house and applied it before the clear coat for maximum durability.
Once the paint was fully cured, we rebuilt the braking system using high-performance Ceratek ceramic grease and thread lock where necessary. To ensure optimal performance and safety, we pressure bled the hydraulic system using premium Brembo Dot 4 brake fluid.
As part of our brake caliper painting process, we conduct pre and post-work diagnostic checks, and we possess the specialized tools necessary to perform the work safely. We can handle modern brake-by-wire systems, carbon ceramic braking systems, as well as traditional systems.
We remove braking components from the car, drain them, and plug the oil galleries. Next we sandblast all components back to bare metal and perform solvent cleaning before painting. We also clean and paint the spring clips and pad retaining pins as necessary.
Before painting we mask off the pistons and machined faces before applying paint in four stages: anti-corrosion, primer, base (colour), and clear coat. We apply any logos before the clear coat to ensure maximum durability. We use only top-quality paints and ultra-high solids clear coat, and you can choose any color you like as long as there is a color code for it.
When we rebuild the calipers we use new bleed valves. Ceratek grease is used for pad fitting and we use thread lock on fixings as needed. If you’d like to change them, we can also fit new pads and discs at this stage. Next, we pressure bleed the hydraulic system, torque the wheels, and conduct a road test on the car.
